Sound quality is marvelous. This works well for me. I do wish I could download software for my mac and am trying to keep an old pc laptop alive just to refresh stations. I use sennheiser headphones, a big improvement over the slacker earplugs but they too are decent.I love it. Ended up doing a factory reset and then adding 3-4 stations at a time. I can't understand why everyone isn't walking around with one of these in their pockets wearing a huge smile.
I refreshed 15 stations tonight with an old usb 1.0 connection and it took less than a half hour. I also put all the display settings on bare minimum to keep the battery usage low. This beats paying for a phone with unlimited internet each month, plus no cell phone radiation with the slacker. Unlike mp3 players, the slacker player introduces countless new songs and then refreshes each station reflecting your likes and dislikes. The first time, slacker loaded the firmware updates as well.Since I am in my car for work, I connect the slacker to a powerjump starter otherwise I'd run down the battery with the long hours I work. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat had I the extra cash. Each song comes complete with biographical info on the artists.
Also, it would be cool to be able to refresh via wifi at the local Peets which the g1 doesn't seem to do.I got over ambitious and tried to do too much the first connection.
I would purchase from this company again. No problems whatsoever. I already own a Slacker radio, and I bought this one as a gift for my son-in-law for Christmas. The item was sent on time and it was exactly what I had ordered.
Honestly the G1 should be recalled and everyone given a credit voucher to purchase a G2 because of all the known problems. It's very sad that the firmware and technical problems are so common that they have to publish full repair procedures. Prompt response and they walk you through repair procedures.
I have been using the G1 portable for a year and suffered through all the firmware issues and technical bugs. There is a KNOWN problem with the G1 starting up and hundreds of blogs on the subject. I absolutely love the Slacker radio concept and streaming music.
Slacker does have a fix: [.].I have chatted with support several times and they are great. Slacker is a great concept and I hope to see them succeed. When it works - it is GREAT.
When it fails to start up, or sync I want to scream.
Update works OK, wifi connection to open network and using WPA at home works like a champ. Mine works exactly as advertised. I also use the Slacker web client, but the portable device is nice in the car and with the stereo. Well worth the price I paid. I don't use for my own mp3s, just for Slacker stations. Custom stations are great, and I have added and deleted stations many times.
Sometimes it syncs, sometimes it won't.Very frustrating.I do not recommend this product. Love Slacker radio, but this device is cursed, it worked for 8 weeks then stopped, sometimes it turns on, sometimes it won't.
